Fun at the National Kids' Festival
Hi friends! This month I’m recommending a fun festival you and your family might want to check out this summer. It’s Silver Dollar City’s National Kids’ Festival. The festival runs now through Aug. 22 in Branson.
The colorful Circus of Dreams Parade runs daily during the festival and you won’t want to miss it! It’s a spirited procession of whimsical circus fun with larger-than-life fanciful floats featuring colorful elephants, bears, monkeys and tigers. During the twice-a-day parade, you’ll see the water-spouting clown fire truck, penguins on a trapeze and a cage full of playful escaping monkeys. You might even be chosen to join in the fun, as one child is selected as Grand Marshal of the parade — and you might be chosen to participate in the Puppet Brigade of 7-foot-tall circus puppets.
When you’re done watching the parade you can watch the champion kid cloggers from around the country as they kick up their heels. Or you might head to Thomas Kinkade’s Kolorful Kids Art Barn to create a beautiful work of art.
If you’re a fan of VeggieTales, you can see Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber in a delightfully wacky musical stage show. Kids can sing along with their favorite talking vegetable, too.
Want more excitement? Catch the Xtreme Air show where riders perform high-flying stunts on inline skates and BMX bikes. If you need more thrills, ride the high-speed, multi-looping roller coaster named WildFire or the thrilling Thunderation coaster ride. If you don’t mind getting a little wet, WaterWorks Waterboggan or Lost River raft ride are the rides for you.
For younger kiddos, smaller-scale rides can be found in Tom Sawyer’s Landing. Interactive adventure is the theme at the Geyser Gulch Treehouse Village, another fun spot for kids.
